Kenya Painters

The Fine Arts are greatly sidelined in Kenya and not many people get to associate themselves with them like painting. Even the education sector has downplayed the importance of the Arts by not including it in the basic curriculum. However, the significance of the Fine Arts is not lost to everybody. This article will look into the works of up n coming Kenyan Painters,

Inviolata Matini

This is a 3rd year Fine Art student at Kenyatta University. She mainly deals with impressionism where one paints the reality but not exactly as it seems.
Below are some of her works accompanied by minute explanations:

Title: Kit Mikayi mysteries (the depths)

Media: oil on canvas
Vivid image of Kit Mikai Rocks a site in Kenya.

Title: My brother's portrait.

Family

Title: The Current Kenya

Media: Acrylics on canvas
A representation of major achievements in the current years in Kenya. Commemorating Kenya @ 50 years.

Title: Value

Media: Acrylics on embossed paper

Basically, trees shade leaves once in a while.....these painting depicts exactly that. But the symbolism behind it is, the value of what was once there. The fallen leaves gathered, may serve some other purpose.
